Edit: It gives the pretense that you will win 10 items from the selection board. This is not correct. Instead of having to sit there and spin and spin to get lvl1 gems over and over, they took the pain and misery out of it and made it where you can get them all at once. Hope this helps!
Umm going off of the BEST and WORST prices all of the above costs, your 40 spins (costing you 200 gems) netted you this many gems worth of items

80 Blue stars: (200 gems worth on fridays, 800 worth face value)
4 Purple (80 on fridays, 400 face value)
1600 stamina (worth 320 gems)
120M coins (600 gems from fair, cheapest value)
90M creds (900 gems)
5k rep (about 100 gems).

So those 40 spins were worth anywhere between 2200-3200 gems. How is 200 gems worth of spinning not worth it?
