I see your point here, but I would like to counter it. Essentially the only "work" people do in the lab is sit there for enough hours that they are either given a plan or they acquire enough tokens to buy one. For the average non-vip like 5-10 tokens a day. so a guardian plan would take roughly 6 days at-least, but the only real work put in was sitting at the computer for maybe 5 or 6 hours to do the labs and getting the free tokens. the same would go for CW. To amass the tickets necessary players would have to spend about 8-10 hours betting in a CW possibly for multiple weeks to amass tickets for the higher spirits, and if they wanted them faster (more tickets in less time) they could spend gems on bets, just like spending gems to buy extra lab runs for more tokens. Overall the same amount of "work" is put into acquiring the spirits. Saying that playing the lab is "working for them" but that carefully betting in CW and putting in the time every night to get all your bets in is not is an inherent contradiction. They both require the same amount of effort, some might argue CW is more of an effort because it takes more time, some might argue lab is more of an effort because there is a bit more account building involved, either way tokens and tickets are both free rewards given with minimal effort.
Edit: to put it in a bit more perspective, I can average, if i'm paying attention all 5 days, about 20-30k tickets per CW. That would require a minimum of a month per Justice Spirit, 7 months for all of them. Combining this with the lab might make it a bit faster, but overall it's not going to make people progress as fast as say...buying the tokens for a LB in 5 minutes. It takes some serious time investment to achieve the amount of tickets necessary for the spirits, not to mention lost coin/credit income if you save the tickets, which means slower progression in runes etc.
