I run the same speed as I did before, I think its all just a ploy to get people to spend money taming their mounts.
I run the same speed as I did before, I think its all just a ploy to get people to spend money taming their mounts.
Here are some things that may be relevant to my test.
- Since the animation is done by the client, the speed of the computer, the amount and peed of memory, the video card(s), the hard drive speed (if memory swapping is being done) and what other programs are running in the background can affect the results. My PC had 8 high speed processors, 32 G memory and two high end video cards, so there are no delays caused by the hardware
- Since information about what other players in Aerie City and where they are must be obtained from the server, internet access speed and server lag can affect the results. I use a ethernet connection to the router and a DSL connection to the internet so there should not be any lag issues caused by my connection.
- I noticed that the runs were not smooth. It looked that there were some slow downs and sprints. It looked to me that the slow downs were followed by the sprints. Since the results of each of the 5 runs did not vary significantly I assume that what is happening is that the client is doing the sprints to compensate in small delays caused by accessing the server. This would keep the average speed constant. There was one run that stood out because is was over 3 seconds slower that the other ones for that set. In this one there was noticeable hesitation at one time that I attribute to lag.
Another thing that I have noticed, not associated with this run. is that whenever there are bad lag problems the client clock looses time. This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the client that does not compensate for lag delays in the clock. The client should be changed to synchronize the clock to the server periodically.
