What has changed - A guide for returning players

With Tynon giving incentives to players that had not played for a long time to come back I thought that a summary of some of the major changes that have happened would be something good to have. Please feel free to post additions and I will incorporate them into the guide. Note. This is a work in progress as I have time to do it.

    Main Screen Layout
There are some changes on the main screen and in Aerie City. The most significant one is that the icons across the top of the screen are now limited to two rows. If they will not fit in those rows, scroll arrows (<< and >>) will appear on the right and/or the left of the icons.

The Arena icon is now next to the Philosopher Stone and there are two new large icons next to the information area at the top right of the screen. They are for the Royal Challenge (no name on it) and Championship Warfare (more on both of them later on the guide).

Some new icons have been added to the bottom of the screen. The more significant ones are Mount and Casino (more on both of them later on the guide).

Some of the NCP characters have moved to other locations. Look for Buros Hunter (Mounts) in the garden and Tanis Kingsley to the right of the Castle steps. Tanis now has a job. He is the Card Broker (more on that later on the guide).

There are two new icons under the mini map at the upper right of the screen. One is the Mount that is a quick way to get into the screen where you purchase mounts. The other is Sale. When you click on this you can see a scrollable list of packages that can be bough using real money. They are a better deal that buying Gems the old way (although that is still available) and they give you resources in addition to the Gems. They also give each member of your Guild (including you) a chest that, when opens, gives them a random resource. the kind and quantity of resources that they get depends on the package you bought. During some holidays there are special packages offered that are an even better deal that the other ones. Some of those packages can be bought only once a day. Any gems that you but though the packages count towards VIP levels.

    Weekly Events
Every week there is a different event. There are not the kind of events that you actively participate in, but game features that are available for that day. Click on the Weekly Events Icon for more information.
It is worth noting that because you get Gems as sailing rewards a lot of the servers have a 'truce' on Saturdays so there are no sinking. make sure you ask the members of your Guild id there is such a truce on your server.
If you last played after the weekly events were added, you should note that Tavern Tuesday has changed. Initially you got the card without having to pay any Credits. Now you have to pay the Credits to get the card, but the number of spirits that you get for each Gold or Purple Hero that shows up when you do a refresh (using the Refresh or Auto Refresh buttons in the Tavern) are doubles on Tuesdays.

    Banish Cerberus and Baal
The 'last hit' reward of 10 million coins is now a 'lottery'. The way it works is that after Cerb/Baal is killed every one is moved to the starting position and a new 1 minute cool-down starts. During this phase, also known as rage phase, the Boss can not be stunned and starts with 100% morale. The phase ends when there has been between 30 and 35 attacks (not round within an attack) on the Boss. The number of attacks depends on the size Boss you are fighting. The damage done is not taken into consideration. The winner of the lottery is decided before the rage phase starts and anyone that actively participated (attacked the Boss at least once) before the rage phase is eligible for the 10 Million coin lottery. The order of finishing or the rewards that are based on damage done (Credits, Coins, and Reputation) is not affected by the Rage phase.

Note that if the Boss is not killed before the Rage phase ends there is no bonus but you still get the regular rewards. Also note that the requirement that the Boss be beaten in 15 minutes to move up to the higher level Boss includes the Rage phase.

The plan drops that the first 3 places get are the same as what highest HR Boss that the player has beaten gives out. In addition
    1st place gets lv4 chip, 2-3 lv3, 6-10 lv2 chips.

The Bosses are now more resistant to Critical attacks and stun attacks.

There is a cap of 40 Million credits on the rewards you receive.

    Sailing on the Caribbean
You get 1/2 of the rewards when you set sail and the other 1/2 when you finish. This means that if your boat is sunk you still get 1/2 of the rewards. This includes 1/2 the Gems on Saturdays. Note that to satisfy the Assistant requirement you must have at least one complete sail.

The number of sails that can be started on a day is now four.

    Practice Attacks
In the Rankings you will see crossed swords on the extreme right of each player's line. When you click on them toy attack that player, but it is a practice attack. The other player is not notified that you did it and you do not loose or gain any reputation or resources. It is a good way to test formations and to satisfy the three 'Attack other players in the wild' for the assistant.

    Assistant
There are several new activities that vibe you assistant points so now just about anyone can get the King's Chest. Note that practice attacked from the Rankings count towards the three 'Attack other players in the wild' for the Assistant. In addition the 2nd (Knight's Reward ) and 4th (King's Bounty) chest give you maps for sailing.

    Arena
There is a new Arena called the Ultimate Arena (UA) where the top ten ranked players in the Realm Arena (RA) go into. Players in the UA can not enter the RA to fight. This is a server wide arena. The players in the UA can also be 'seen' and attacked in the RA by players that are below rank 10, and if they win and swap places then the winning player moves to the UA and the loosing player to the RA.

When you steal some one else's stakes, you get your share of the stakes right away. If the other player re-seizes the stakes they still get the whole stakes, but you still keep your share. This means that if you steal a Leader card and the other player re-seizes it you both get the card. Because of this, in most servers it is generally expected that when you seize Gems or a Leader Card that you contact the other player, if possible, to arrange for them to re-seize them back since you will not loose your share.

In the arena when there is a battle both the winner and the looser get Reputation. This makes it very easy to reach the daily reputation cap that is now 2,000. The best way to do this is to strip down to one hero with no equipment or Runes and then hit the most powerful player that you can see. Depending on the difference in power between the two of you, you can gain up to 100 reputation on each fight. If so, you can reach the cap in 20 battles. The only problem is that when you loose the game does not tell you the amount of reputation that you gained or if you reached the cap. What you need to do is monitor the reputation number on the information are in the top left of the screen. If it is displayed in Ks then mover the mouse pointer over it and the actual number is displayed.

    Rank and Reputation
When you first log-in you may finds that your rank is down to private. This is because the reputation requirements to move up in Rank have increased significantly you need to rank up again. All the reputation that you previously used is still there. The daily salary has also increased. In addition, the heroes that are unlocked with each rank can now be purchased with coins. You do that on the same window that you collect your daily salary. You will also find that there are new ranks at the top with new heroes that unlock when you reach them.

    Ragnarok (Rag)
This is a daily server wide event that starts at 6 PM and lasts for 50 rounds. Each round last one minute. You need to enter the event by clicking on the icon that is displayed on as the right most icon on the 2nd row of icons. That opens up a window and you must click on Fight to participate. The players are randomly paired for each fight and the damage that a player sustains on a fight carries over to the next fight. Players that die start the next fight at full power. Any formation changes that you make once will not go into effect until the next time you die. The rewards are small and they consist of Reputation and Credits and are based on the number of battles that you win with the amount gained from each battle increasing as long as you stay alive. Once you die it starts again at the lowest amount. You can boost if you want but it is not generally cost effective in terms of the amount of credits that you gain, but you may want to do so because of the reputation gains. The final placement of the players in the event does not affect the gains.

If you do not want to sit there and see the fighting, you can close the Rag window and you are still participating. If you do so you can do anything else in the game without the fight scenes interrupting you. If you get disconnected or refresh you must re-enter the even, by clicking on the icon and then on Fight.

    Heaven Palace (HP)
This is a weekend event that start at midnight on Friday night and end at midnight on Sunday night. It is a place where players can fight each other (like the wilds but on most servers it is frowned on is you do it) and fight the 'statues' There are 10 statues and they are the top two rank players in each Realm Arena (I do not know how it works in the servers that have only 3 realms). The formation and equipment of the statues is captured on Friday (the timing is really tricky) and remains in place throughout the weekend.

There are 10 levels in the palace. The statues in the first level have their power significantly reduced from what the players had when the formation was captured, and the power increases with each level. The power of the statues on the highest level is significantly higher that what was captured. You fight the statues just like you fight other players. You get credits for each statue that you beat with the amount increasing as you beat the statues. When you beat all the statues on a level you bet to 'pick a card' and receive rewards. The value of the available rewards increase as you move up in level and they include Heroes cards. After picking the card you move to the next level by entering the portal.

You can boost in HP and, unlike in other places, you can boot to 100% using credits only (no Gems).

    Championship Warfare (CWF)
This is a cross server event. It happens every other week and starts at 9 PM on Tuesday. You must sign up for it on Monday (not sure of the exact times). When you sign you you get 2000 Tickets that can be used to buy items in the CWF shop. Once you have signed up you do not have to be logged on to participate in the fights. The first two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) are the preliminary rounds. There are 8 rounds each day consisting of three battles each. The player that wins the most battles wins the round. Players from all servers that have signed are paired up (the method of pairing up is not really known and it may be random) are paired up for each round and the results of each round does not affect the pairing for the next round. You get 200 tickets for each battle (not round) that you win and 100 tickets for battle you loose. You also get 1 point for each win. You can increase the amount that you get by 'betting' using Gems (not recommended at this stage because it is not cost effective).

At the end of the preliminary rounds the 512 players with the most points go into the elimination rounds (no one knows how they pick who us picked when the are more players with the same amount points that will fit into the elimination rounds. In the elimination rounds the players are paired up (no one knows how the pairing is done but it is definitively not by seeding) and the looser of each round is eliminated. The number of fights on each round start at five and increase (but not on each round) until the championship round where there are 11 battles. The number of tickets that the winner and the looser gets also increases as the the the elimination progresses. Players that are not fighting can bet on the fights. The fight that you can bet on is randomly determined for the first round and after that you follow the winner of that round. You do not loose anything id you loose the bet. The amount of tickets you get for a win is at least 1/2 the number that the winner of the fight gets but it is determined by the number of players betting on each fighter. If the 'underdog, wins, you get more tickets. You can also get some tickets if you bet on the looser. I am not sure how that is calculated. The elimination rounds are held on Thursday and Friday with the Final on Saturday.

You can change your formation before each fight but the formation freezes one minute before each fight. The Heroes' equipment and runes is set using the game mechanics (outside of CWF) but the actual formation is set up inside of CWF and does not change (including the equipment and runes that were selected) unless you change formations inside of CWF (formation, equipment and Rune changes outside of CWF, as well as adding Saints or Stars stars to a hero do not affect the CWF formation unless you change formations inside of CWF and load the formation). Within a round, the looser of each fight gets a 5% increase in defense and offense and this accumulated from fight to fight.

The players that make it into the quarter final get additional rewards that increase depending on how the player places in the tournament. These rewards include Spirit plans, Chips (the ones that you embed on equipment) and cards for special heroes.

    Guild Warfare (GW)
The mechanics of GW have not changed, but it now starts at 7 PM and the way the individual battles are resolved has. The changes are confusing (at least to me) but in general favor the looser of each fight. There is also a 'penalty' for Guilds that already hold cites that increases with the number of cities they hold. For more details (if you are really interested) see http://bbs.tynon.com/showthread.php?6776, http://bbs.tynon.com/showthread.php?6737, http://bbs.tynon.com/showthread.php?6411 and http://bbs.tynon.com/showthread.php?6400.

    Royal Challenge and New Heroes
The Royal Challenge is a place where you fight new Heroes. You must beat one hero before you can fight the next one. When you beat a Hero, there is a chance that the hero with join you. If he does not join you, you can continue to fight him until he does. This does not stop you from fighting the hero that you have not beaten yet.

You enter the Royal Arena by clicking on the icon that is between the statistic area and the Championship Warfare icon. It has the picture an name of the Hero that you have yet to beat. When you click on it it open a window that has the picture of the Hero on top and some information about the Hero on the bottom. Moving the mouse pointer over the name of the Hero's skill the bottom panel changes to a description of the Hero.

There are two buttons across the bottom of the screen. The Replay button is there for any hero that you have beaten and the one that you have to beat next. When you click on it, it opens a list yo up to 5 replays that you can use to guide you on choosing a formation to attack the hero. The Challenge button is there for any Hero that you have beaten but has not joined you and for the next Hero that you have to beat. That is how you attack the hero. It costs 5 stamina each time you attack a hero.

There are scroll arrows to the right and left to the screen that allows you to see the different heroes. That is how you go to any Hero that you have beaten but has not joined you so you can fight him again to try to get him to join you.

Beating a hero does not unlock him. You have to get him to join you before it is unlocked. Once it is unlocked it is eligible to be bought at the Tavern and it may appear at the other places where you can get cards (the Fair, Guild Chests and the Card Broker, for example).

There is another way to get heroes even if they are not unlocked, and that is at the Casino (more on that later).

There is a sticky tread in the Hero's Tavern section of the forum with an index to treads that discus some of the Heroes and another sticky tread in the Story and Lore section of the forum with an index to treads that discuss formation on how to beat the Royal Arena Heroes and the Heroic Realm and Quest bosses.

    Maria
Maria is a unique Hero in that is only available by wining her in the Casino, In the Card Broker, or buying her as part of some packages. When you first log on you you should have a package available on the Sale icon that has Maria in it. It is a limited time package and will go away after 7 days. From time to time holiday packages are offered for sale and sometimes Maria is included in one of them. So far the only one that has had it was one of the Easter packages, and it was more expensive that the one in the initial offer one.
    Heroes Inn

The number of Heroes in the Heroes screen and in the rune area is now limited to 12. These 12 Heroes are the only ones that are available to use in a formation or to add starts to. All your other Heroes are in the Hero Inn.

The way you move heroes into the in, so they can 'rest' (although resting does nothing for a Hero) is to first remove all equipment and runes. Then select the Hero on the Heroes screen and click on the 'Rest' button that is above the helmet slot. When you select the main hero, instead of a Rest button, there is a "Hero Inn" button. That is how you open the Inn window. There is also a "Hero Inn" button in the lower left corner of the formations screen.

If you have fewer that 12 heroes 'deployed' (in the Heroes screen) then you can deploy additional Heroes until you have 12 that are deployed. You do this by going to the Hero Inn window and clicking on the Deploy button under the Hero's picture. Note that you can not get any information about a Hero at the Inn, such as saint levels, Saint attributes, or stars. You must deploy the hero to see that.

If you had more that 12 heroes before some of them were moved to the Inn and any equipment they had put in your inventory. Unfortunately the Runes that does Heroes had were moved to the Inn with the Hero. To recover the Runes you must 'deploy' the heroes one at a time, remove the Runes and, if you do not want him as an active Hero, return him to the Inn to 'rest'. There is no additional Rune storage, do if you had a lot of Runes saved you will have to combine them if you have more runes that you can store in the 12 deployed heroes plus the 20 slots in the Rune window. Remember that you will need enough open slots to remove the Runes from a Hero in order to send him to the Inn to rest.

    Inventory and the Bank

Up to 99 Material used to upgrade equipment and Star can be stacked in one slot. Plans can not be staked. Jewels (use to embed in equipment can be stacked up to 5 and Heroes Cards can be stacked up to ???.

Sometimes there are more items in the inventory that the available slots. This can happen when you but an item or get it from some other source (like the Arena, the Casino or a Guild chest, for example). When this happens some items are hiding behind other items. You ab tell if you have hidden items as follows:

    1. Count the number of empty slots in the inventory (both window 1 and 2).
    2. Add that number to the number that is before the slash at the bottom of the inventory window.
    3. If this number is greater than the number after the slash, you have hidden items, even if you have empty slots.

By clicking Sort All all the items will be stacked to their stack limits and some slots will become available and some of the hidden items may show up on those available slots. In some cases items will remain hidden. If that is the case then you must do the following to un-hide them:
    1. Move one item at a time to an empty slot.
    2. If there was an item hiding behind the one you moved it show up in the slot just vacated
    3. Continue doing this until you have no more hidden items (the number of empty slots plus the first number equal the second number).

This can also happen in the Bank and the procedure is the same.

If the first number plus the number of empty lots is less that the second number the you have a lost item. This is extremely rare. It is caused by having a client failure (disconnect) when manipulating items, but it does not happen all the time. If the item is a piece of equipment, you will see it at the blacksmith not assigned to ant hero. If it is a jewel you will see it in the blacksmith as available to be embedded, In either case but it does not show up in the inventory, If you have a lost item you need to open a ticket. Provide screen shots of the inventory (both windows 1 and 2) or the bank, depending of where the item is lost at. Also provide screen shots of the relevant Blacksmith screens.

More than likely you will get that ticket closed with a 'canned' answer about doing a Sort All. If so, open another ticket with e subject "Please read the information provided before sending a canned answer" and in the text refer to the original ticket and explain the situation again.

    Runes
There has always been a very rare Rune called Sinergia. This Rune has no special ability, but it gives 1200 Rune experience when combined wit another Rune.

In the Runes window (not the Temple) there is a button that you can use to buy Sinergia runes to upgrade your Runes without having to use the Temple. Note that wen you do this you will not get Purple or Gold Runes or Rune Fragments like you do at the Temple.

Some attack and Defense Runes can now be upgraded to Level 12. See http://bbs.tynon.com/showthread.php?...11-and-12-rune for a list of the attack Runes. Need a list of defense runes

    Formations
The Heroes Presence Talent is gone. You now open up the additional formation positions (including substitute) by beating specific heroes in the Royal Arena. If a hero opens up a formation position, it is listed under Benefits.

In addition to the maximum of five heroes in the formation, you can now have up to three substitutes heroes (the third substitute has not been implemented). When one of your Heroes die in battle, the first (top most) substitute takes hid place in the formation for the duration of that battle.

    Saints

    Stars

    Card Broker
This is a new feature that allows you to get cards. You can access it through Tanis Kingsley (he moved to the right of the Palace steps), though the Assistant, or trough a link in the lower right of the Tavern screen. On the Card Broker screen there are three cards. a Blue, a Purple, and a Gold. There is also a button on the lower part of the screen. When you first enter the screen the button says DRAW. When you click the button animation starts with the cards highlighting in sequence. eventually it stops on one card that then moves to the middle slot. You click on the card and it reveals the hero that you got and the button changes to CLAIM. When you click on the button you get that card without having to pay for it, but you get no spirits. Note that you have to claim the card before you can draw another one.

The card the you get is selected before the animation starts based on the odds that are set up in the game, and the speed or duration of the animation does not affect the kind of card that you get.

The first time that you use the Card Broker each day it is free. After that it costs 30 Gems. When paying Gems, you get 50 spirits with a Blue card, 10 Spirits with a Purple card and 5 Spirits with a Gold card.

Note that only the Heroes that you have unlocked are available. The only exception is that Maria is also available. There is a link in the bottom right of the screen that takes you to a screen where you can see the Heroes that are available.

    Casino
The Casino is a new feature in the game. You access it trough an icon in the bottom of the screen. The screen has different items along the edge and a square and two buttons in the middle labeled SPIN and 10xSPIN. The top left square along the edge is labeled START and the bottom right DOUBLE. When you click on SPIN the animation starts by highlighting the different items in a clockwise rotation. The item that it stops on moves to the center square and <<will fill this in tomorrow>> Clicking on 10xSPIN is like clicking on SPIN 10 times. Instead of the item moving to the center box you get a new screen with the 10 items that you won. <<need information on what happens when you land on double>>

The most common item that you get is the Lottery Chest. It can contain contain a level 1 jewel, a Maze token, Stamina, or a Blue medal. There is a new type of item that you can get only at the Casino, the Skill Scroll. When used it gives your main Hero a new special ability (see http://bbs.tynon.com/showthread.php?6856 for more information). You can also get Scroll Fragments that can be exchanged for Skill Scrolls.

Note that the item or items that you get id determined before the animation starts.

The first time you use the Casino each day is free. After that it cost 100 Casino Chips for each spin. You buy the Chips with Gems by clicking on the Redeem link above the 10xSPIN button. The number of Chips you currently have is displayed to the left of the link. 100 Chips costs 5 Gems, but you can get a discount if you buy more that 100 chips at a time.

    Mounts
There are new Mounts and they actually help you. Wen you click on the Mount icon on the bottom of the screen you go to Mounts screen. This si the same screen you go to if you click on Mount on the bottom right of the Heroes screen. There are some new bottoms along the bottom of the right panel, some new stats above that, and a row of Stars across the top. Mounts now give you extra Hit Points (HP) and increase the speed that you move on the Wilds and in Aerie City. The higher the Star level of the Mount the more extra HP that you get.

You increase the number of Stars by Feeding your mount or training it. Feeding costs coins and there is a limited times that you can feed the Mount each day. The number varies depending on your VIP level. Training cost Gems and there is no limit to the amount of Training that you can do in a day. The Mounts that are available to you depend on your Rank.

The Stars on a mount can not be transferred to another Mount so you need to thick carefully if you want to get a cheaper mount that will not give you as many HP or wait until unlock a higher level mount you have reached the rank that unlocks it and have saved enough Coins or Gems to buy it. enough Coins to The other think you need to consider is how many mounts are left to be purchased in your Realm.

If you click on the Mount Merchant link on the upper right of the Mounts screen you go to the Purchase Mounts screen (you can also get there by clicking on the Mount Sale icon below the mini map or by clicking on the Mount Merchant. This screen has not changed, but it is where you can find out how many Mounts of each type are left to be purchased in your Realm.

As of April 30 2014 you can transfer the experiences from one Mount to another. The source mount must have at least 3 stars and only 70% of the experience transfers unless you use Gems.

    Labyrinth

    Other Changes

    1. Players can go up to level 115.
    2. Equipment and Talents can be upgraded up to a level equal to the player level.
    3. The bosses in the Heroic Realm are now stronger.
    4. New quest areas have been opens
    5. The map in the portal is gone. when you enter the portal it displays the same screen that you get when you click on the Battle icon on the lower right of the main screen. On that screen you can select what area you want to go to.

I really would appreciate it if some one (or more than one) proofs read the guide, not only for typos, but also for content. The sections up to and including Guild Warfare are complete (unless some one finds mistakes or suggests some worthwhile changes). Please note that this is supposed to be a guide and not a detail description on how the game works so do be offended if you suggest something that I do not incorporate because I consider it to be too much detail.

Once In have competed all the sections of the Guide (hopefully with in the next coupe of days) I will make it a sticky.
