Mages need at least one.
I've seen "double intenseness" suggested. Not bad. But what else is there? What about runes that are specific to whatever the hero's abilities are? Like runes that boost the heroes chances for stun, or moral draining? Or literally runes that boost driving blow? No?
My thought for a mage rune is pretty simple. Just give them a Magic Attack/Hit Point rune. Done.
