chess was meant as an example and not to take it literally. its to explain those guys what a knockout tournament is about. what they are trying to implement is a different style and structure of a tournament, more like something where everyone is in their leagues and at the end you can have the winners of the divisions play against each other for a grand prize or whatever.

ps: gratz on your FIDE rating and FYI the top 100 players have a 2600-2700 rating and you should sign up at a club first and then go to tourneys or something
I never played in a knockout. Personally I don't mind the current CFW system, but changing it could be interesting as well. It would certainly get us a lot more close matches, rather than the 1 or 2 we get currently. The betting part is boring for me, so changing the structure might be a good thing for me.

ps: Sorry, it wasn't my FIDE. My FIDE is something like 2150 because I don't play in a lot of international tournaments. 2280 is my CFC (Canadian rating).
