    Making GW 2-dimensional

    Guild Wars being linear (1-dimensional) doesn't hold much strategy to it. So here is an idea to spice it up while maintaining it's very-familiar format....
    by adding another dimension to it

    Here's a crude ASCII illustration example of what I mean:
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXX|----||----||----||----||----|XXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXX|....||....||....||CAMP||....|XXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXX|....||....||....||EEEE||....|XXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXX|----||----||----||----||----||----||----|XXXXXX
    XXXXXX|....||....||CAMP||....||....||....||....|XXXXXX
    XXXXXX|....||....||CCCC||....||....||....||....|XXXXXX
    |----||----||----||----||----||----||----||----||----|
    |ATTK||....||....||....||FORT||....||....||....||-DEF|
    |BASE||....||....||....||FORT||....||....||....||B ASE|
    |----||----||----||----||----||----||----||----||----|

    XXXXXX|....||CAMP||....||....||....||CAMP||....|XXXXXX
    XXXXXX|....||BBBB||....||....||....||FFFF||....|XXXXXX
    XXXXXX|----||----||----||----||----||----||----|XXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXX|....||....||....||....||....|XXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXX|....||....||....||....||....|XXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXX|----||----||----||----||----|XXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXX

    -- Units can of course move up, down, left, right, or diagonal, 1 space.
    -- Visibility of enemy units is limited to 1 tile (any direction) of a friendly unit, just like 1-dimensional format

    -- (optional bonus) Cavalry units! Such as Alexa, Saffron, Calvin, Rhize, Khan, etc.. Players can choose to sacrifice power for mobility! If ALL their units are cavalry (and main is riding their mount), then they can move TWO spaces per turn. This means (if they choose this) they can't field critical units such as Adamanti, Herja, Maria, Theseus, Alci, etc.. This will make the scouting function as necessary (like capture the flag) instead of nothing more than a durability-drain. The fog of war becomes real. Now suddenly the battlefield has both infantry and cavalry, but more importantly, strategy.

    Cuddles' Law: The volume of a player's whine is directly proportional to his/her VIP level.

    This idea is truly wonderful. I think it would be fairly easy to program (basically works like evony) and wouldn't create too much of a system drag. I would also like to add the additional scout benefits of moving 3 squares if it is just the main on a dragon, and 4 squares if it is just the main on a wind-runner. These superior mounts would move much quicker than any other additions, especially if they are alone. I feel that with changes like these GW's would become much more un-predictable and we would see underdog forces winning far more often.

    much easier solution would be to make it depending on mounts:
    hoverboards and dragons move 3, bear 2 and all other mounts 1 space at the time
    i dont think switching forms and such to set up for speed is a great idea, however if you want to implement that then you have to fix first to allow switching forms during GW in the first place. remember: if you enter powered down for HP, in banish form, etc at this point you are pretty much screwed because the current system does not let you change set up. so start by fixing that first, then the bugs and then find other ideas to implement

    This is a GENIOUS idea.

    Who has all calvary? Well, I'm all for readjusting movement, the current all attackers stuck in A, while all defense have many camps to choose from certainly isn't ideal for strategizing. I'm also for making improvements because the current way it's set up is B to A... or knocking them back far enough to get out of A. Tynon seems to think the B to A is wrong, even tho they set it up this way. Attackers have no backfield. I've never been a fan of the current system, as most probably know. LOL

    Does Dawnseeker still exist, I havent seen a comment from him in over a week, we certainly do need him to show the devs this idea - AT LEAST consider implementing this into the game

    uhm on second thought and i hate being the party pooper, but what prevents the attackers from NOT facing the defenders and not going 10 moves (or 3 turns with cavs) straight to base while defenders wait for attackers to scout?
    this would also favor major guilds who have like all super players on the sever and doing exactly the opposite of what dawn worked on so hard to "even out the GW" ( we still go B to A lol )

    None. That's a viable strategy, but it has 3 or more counters:
    #1-- if the Defenders stay at G
    #2-- All-cavalry setups are not as strong as ordinary setups
    #3-- if the defenders scout and see it coming
    #4-- the attackers wouldn't get the camp +5% each bonuses

    this would also favor major guilds who have like all super players on the sever and doing exactly the opposite of what dawn worked on so hard to "even out the GW" ( we still go B to A lol )
    Not any more than the current. Furthermore it's two squares from B to A. They would need all-cavalry builds to do this (less powerful) on turn 1.

    look i am not opposed to your idea to make the GW better and i like the miniature chessboard like version and would love to send my guildies down the field, but if the guild is a server dominating one then all they have to do is fan out enough. with the current system you have a predictable path and i think its more programmed for a predictable stalemate with possible exploits that i am not going to discuss here again since i have been called incompetent from a certain someone for doing what we been doing since the changes where implemented.
    i appreciate your idea and i think it may make a great minigame for very active servers, but on all other servers that are dominated by 1-2 guilds, i think it favors the larger guild with more active players (or alts).

    edit:
    what i think its missing is something that forces players to take the fort and camps that then would for example initiate a battle between camp C and FORT and not just run around them and let the others sit inside waiting for you.
