How does physical attack and skill attack work?

I hear mixed opinions on this. Some say physical attack boosts skill attack damage, so that leaves me wondering what I should level for my gear setup. If I have 6 light sets and skill attack every turn with herja, it would seem that skill attack would be the best way to go. But is it true that physical attack has some residual value in that it boosts the damage of skill attacks as well, as some have told me.

    Yes that's true.

Both patk and satk play a part in your total damage dealt.

Same way both pdef and sdef play a part in decreasing total damage received.

No def works differently. Skill def will not lower the damage taken on a phy attack and same other way around.

Does physical attack damage boost the damage of a skill attack? I guess that is what I'm asking, because some people seemed to imply that is the case. I mean, once you get herja + 6 light sets and skill attack every turn, what use would physical attack have by that point, right?

Physical attack still matters for counter attacks after a block and should also increase the damage dealt when you skill. Easiest way to find out is take the physical attack rune off and do practice battles watching for the amount of damage that toon does. Put it back on and repeat with the same practice battles. If you do more damage keep that rune if not swap it for something useful.

If you don't want to believe me, it's fine.

Test it with level 12 burliness and flintiness runes vs other players and you'll see.

Yes it does. Patk boosts skill attack damage inflicted.

That is true. The rules for HR, quest bosses, and royal arena are a bit different than in pvp.

    I'm not sure why either.

Another example is when fighting certain bosses, no matter how much you increase your defense, the bosses deal the same amount of damage to you.

technically you all are wrong, but close. the s.attack is added to the p.attack and not the other way around. meaning regardless what kind of attack you are doing (except magic and debuffing) you are performing a physical attack to which you may add a skill. therefore a burliness is bigger in value than a flint, since the flint only decreases the skill portion in case of a skilled attack.
