Making sense of the numbers

I have played this game for awhile now. I have tried it across 3 different toons, all kinds of combinations, and the numbers just do not track. No matter what kind of combination of stars or cards or runes I use, lower level game characters always seem to defeat me, and by ALOT. The hero challenge is a great example of this. The charater I currently have to challenge has numbers WELL BELOW my own. I should, with little difficulty, be able to defeat and recruit this toon. But when I watch the battle, (after experiencing many defeats), I see that even after taking SEVERAL solid hits this toon takes little if no damage. Now I have examined this toons numbers and NOTHING in the stats would even remotely suggest that kind of defensive power. I have tried every combination of formations including all of the ones done successfully before me, (some of those I might add being 10 lvls LOWER than me), but to no avail. Results are always the same..crushing defeats.
So is this game just based on random actions that are set for the system to win? Do all the rune, blacksmith, talent numbers mean anything? What am I missing here? I know that the tavern, casino, and card broker are nothing but a waste of resources if you spend any real money on them, but I did not think that the whole game was coded that way.
So once again, I ask you, what is the big secret number that I am not seeing? What do I need to do to my toons to make them viable warriors in this game?

Mind giving us some numbers? What is your physical attack and what is their defense? Seems like they all just have one strong tank stopping your attacks while you have distributed stats.

the numbers being low in replays meens nothing...most of the times its higher power guys that goes back down powerd to satisfy their ego or just plain destroy the replays

as for pvp i personally like the build 1 hero as much as possible aproach that way u can have lower power and still beat alot of ppl compared to having all heroes at same gear/runes etc ofcourse theres limits before you need to start building on next and then next

Giving us a little information about your heroes/stats and tell us which hero you are trying to recruit. It would be easier to tell if you are doing something wrong or the game simply hates you.

If someone has a bazooka, and someone else has a pistol, the person with the bazooka has the biggest power, but if the person with the pistol shoots the other in the head, then he wins. What happens is that those who have a pistol actually know how to use their weapon,and you have a bazooka but are still looking at it while being shot at.

Unfortunately, I cannot seem to load a screen shot to display numbers and I am just to blind to type out evry frickin stat so I guess
I will just let this go. i tried loading an image, but after resizing it to the point that it cannot be seen i decided it was not worth the discussion. Honestly, this could be talked about for awhile, but the numbers still don't make sense.

We don't really need specific numbers, approximate gear levels would work too, we don't need them all either. The highest and 2nd highest would be fine. A little info about your runes would be helpful as well.

Some of the stuff is old because some patches were released since the guide was written, but the ideas are there and are still good start ups.
