He would have lost either way, but at least he maximized on his gems for max tickets. If it went back and fourth and lose, you get very little tickets.
You don't gain any bonus for winning/losing even if you add bets to yourself using gems.
Fleur probably felt he couldn't win it anyway, and got a bad chip (Diamond, Ruby), so let Blayd have this one, so Fleur can get the next.
At Fleur and Blayd's level, tickets don't matter anymore. If they wanted a hero maxxed out in stars, they use gems.
They win for glory and the chips.

Look. First off, I don't plan my CW finals strategy around you guys who may or may not be betting, sorry, you arent' central to my tactics. As I'm sure I am not central to yours. Second --- apart from the fact the Crown reset sucks, just when things were working nicely and we had several contenders like Ava, myself, others coming up who could and likely WOULD all win soon - - and now its a one horse race AGAIN --- you guys are missing the point and I m sure you would do the same in my position. Do you know what colour my chips were for a win today, in the final ? No, you don't, but I do, and they were crap. Why would I want to pull out all the stops today, even ASSUMING I could somehow beat someone 400 million bigger than me (those of you moaning you should try this first, before you criticise.... THEn you can talk) ---and my rewards would be what ? One more not very useful topaz 8 chip AND a permanent 5% handicap going foward ? No thank you. And anyone paying the slightest attention would have seen my form and not wasted any gems betting on me. And by the way Kaisim, you idiot, you DO know that I cannot bet on Blayd against myself, right ??? duurrrka durka.....
And the form coming on wasn't really out of nowhere. It was round 7, when Blayd was 6-0 and had just clinched it so I knew it didnt matter if I won a few or not. It wasn't random.
To clarify, my tickets earned go DOWN not up when I lose. I cant benefit ticket wise from that. Some of you seem to think otherwise, you don't understand how this game works still, obviously. Plus i could hardly have made it any more obvious to those betting, which rounds I was throwing. What part of it did you miss, those who were still betting on my solo main ?? And whats with the sudden attention ? Not a single post when I won two weeks ago.
PS. Check the Asian servers finals out. It's happened there before too, this isn't a unique idea.

Though I agree completely on the points made, the asia server situation was flipped. the higher power gave way to the lower in that scenario if i remember correctly.
thats why it was a bigger fuss that it shouldn't have happened rather than here where Riot prob would have won without any crowns
