i started to think they are letting the game bleed out on purpose, then in a few months merge all remaining players into one server

You think too much. They won't do a thing with it in my opinion. They might release a patch in the fall or winter as mattp said before, but not because they want it to be ready; simply because it's a good timing to release something and start from "anew".
