I was always told it was hit rating... So I guess I was told wrong

With Shayd, the more you hit, the more you have a chance to stun, obviously. If she doesn't hit her target, she can't stun it. This is mostly why people say, in the first place, that hit rating is important for stuns. Some people ahve come to believe, falsly, that hit rating helps stun, but it merely helps hitting your target.
