that is an unconfirmed rumor and not true.
if support answers, they will respond to both - your email you set up and in game at the support section. that is simply how they have set it up with BCC's going to your email from whatever they write you at the support tab. you get the choice to respond either way.
i for example have never set up the game with any real email account and am still getting responses on bug reports and suggestions.
ps: yes i believe most responses are automated, but that is not the point
