Numerous times we say we are going to quit the game. Even I've said I'm leaving.
However, the only problem is that this is a really good game and (in my mind) is not worth leaving even if it means to never invest real money!

i thought i'd be gone already and then came the "pretend" patch

The idea may be to force everyone to quit, that way they have no one griping about spending money on the game when they do shut down the servers.

i have to agree here, i accused them of doing that before the last patch already and am still suspecting that this is the "plan"

Correct. This is the real reason there were no packages at Thanksgiving, and why there won't be any at Christmas. Can't offer packages when the game is soon to have life support pulled. Im quite sure that is the etiquette.
When the critical mass is hit, of people dropping out, they can then shut down the servers, and the forum.
