For those with (ahem*cough) newish small accts ((alts)), if you didn't buy the beginner pack with Maria i am doubtful you'll be able to get far in quest and HR. I have a basic acct, no Maria, and i'm finding Death Sands very challenging without her. Not sure beyond this point and surely Malme will prove impossible.
dont need maria for the quests ever. in quest and HR when facing malme there is positions without her, you just have to max your magic resist and pray
