Spirit Gear Embed Chips:Is it true that Sapphires ONLY improve Skill Attack???

I am purposely not embedding Sapphires into my Mage's Spirit Gear since the blacksmith description of the embed chip indicates that Sapphires only boost SKILL ATTACK and since Mages are Magic Casters it would NOT help in the least. But this seems counter-intuitive to the general nature of Spirit Gear which gives a double-benefit to morale-fighters (Physical Attack boost AND Skill Attack boost) and a single-benefit to Magic casters (Magic Attack Boost).

So my question is, does anyone know if the Sapphire Embed chips ONLY boost Skill Attack as the blacksmith description indicates or is there not enough text space to say that it also boosts Magic attack as well? I want to add chip embeds for my mage(s) if the sapphire will help - otherwise I will leave it empty and merge them up and embed in fighter class only's Spirit Gear.

It only boosts skill attack. It does nothing for mages.

Very unfortunate but true, mages need a bit of a boost too later on in the game.

It would be nice if you could embed rubies in the spirit for mages
